Your Ceremony usually begins 6 to 12 months  before the Big Day …



During this time you should:
Announce your engagement and set the date
Meet with your parents and future in-laws
Discuss the budget with your Fiancé
Reserve the ceremony site, reception site and the officiant
Select members of the wedding Party
Meet with potential wedding consultants
Interview and sign contracts with vendors i.e., photographer, baker, florist and caterer,
Buy wedding insurance
Select attendant's attire.
 




3 to 6 Months before your Civil-Union or Wedding, it is wise to:



Meet with the officiant and discuss your ceremony and any Premarital counseling requirements
Meet with musicians to select music for the ceremony
Meet with your Fiancé and both mothers to make your guest list
Order the wedding cake, invitations,announcements and personal stationery
Make honeymoon plans and reservations
Assist your Finance's family with rehearsal dinner plans
Create a wedding registry
Check marriage license requirements for your state
Arrange necessary documents if planning a destination wedding
Choose and order wedding bands and have them engraved




2 to 3 Months before your Civil Union or Wedding,  it is necessary to:



Address the invitations and announcements
Visit a formal wear shop with your Fiancée
Buy your attendant's gifts
Ask friends and family who are not in the wedding party to do a special reading during the ceremony or by greeting
guests at the reception
Plan the bridesmaid´s luncheon and bachelor's dinner
Determine the need for baby-sitting services during the wedding weekend
Discuss menu details with the caterer
Send your guests information on local accommodations
Schedule a time for the rehearsal
Select wedding extras: guest book, ring pillow, favors and of course, something old, something new, something
borrowed and something blue
Arrange transportation from the ceremony to the reception for the two of you, your immediate families and the
wedding party




4 to 6 Weeks before your Marriage, it is important that you:



Mail your invitations
Write thank-you notes as gifts arrive
Have programs printed for the ceremony
Discuss life insurance, a will and other legal documents with your fiancé
Select a gift for your bride/groom
Submit wedding announcements to local newspapers
Assist your baker in designing a special cake to surprise your Fiancée at the rehearsal dinner or reception
With the reception in mind, take a few dance lessons to perfect your style
Choose a hairstyle that complements your headpiece
Schedule time with your makeup artist




7 Days before the big day be sure to:



Notify caterer of the final number of guests
Review final details with your florist, baker, photographer and musicians
Confirm honeymoon reservations and begin packing
Have your gown/tux delivered
Go over details with attendants such as accommodations, transportation and the complete schedule of wedding events
Confirm final rehearsal dinner arrangements with your Fiancée´s family
Along with your Fiancée, write as many thank-you notes as possible, before the wedding
Put together a “Survival Kit” for the ceremony with: extra hosiery, nail polish, scissors, needle and thread, aspirin, etc.
See your hairstylist for a last minute trim
Secure the marriage license with your Fiancée




1 Day before  you say “I, Do” prepare to:



Greet out of town as they arrive or have someone meet them at the airport
Attend the bridesmaids´luncheon/bachelors´party
Pack everything you need for the church
Pamper yourself with a massage, manicure and pedicure
Attend the rehearsal dinner
Find a quiet moment to exchange gifts with your Fiancée
